May 27 2025 was when I did my public speech in front of grade 4. My topic was about pollution. I practiced a lot like I mean a lot. I might’ve practiced a bit too much, I practiced at least 6 times a day speaking it in front of my parents. Before I presented my speech I was very nervous. I researched my speech on Google and saw some answers/facts and I rewrote it in my own words. Here is my whole entire speech.
Public speaking/speech
Introduction Hmm hmm hmm oh I didn’t see you there I was just thinking about what to say when I present my speech, whiiiiiich is now, anyway today I will talk to you about pollution. Pollution is a terrible thing that is hurting the environment and that is why we need to stop pollution. Pollution also damages the air, water and soil and that is why I will talk to you about how pollution damages the environment, factories and a few other things.
How Pollution damages the air, people and the environment.
Pollution damages the environment by harming air quality that causes climate change and changing a natural system like physical systems, which is a type of natural system. If pollution keeps happening and if it gets worse it can damage the solar system and if it damages the solar system, it damages the earth/our home, and then we won’t have a place to live anymore. Air pollution can lead to health issues like respiratory problems, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and much more. It also reduces crop yields, trees, and affects wildlife, and increases susceptibility to diseases and pests.
Air pollution can also put acid in lakes, streams and bodies of water harming the animals living in it including turtles, dolphins, seabirds, whales, sharks and other marine life. Pollution isn’t the only thing that goes into the ocean, plastic and garbage go in the ocean too. How does garbage go into the ocean you say. Well littering, overflowing trash bins and illegal dumping can put garbage in the ocean. A lot of the garbage that washes up in the ocean comes from the land sources and is transported there through various means like rivers, streams and sewer systems.
Factories can pollute and contaminate the air.
Factories pollute and contaminate the air by blowing chemical vapors and smoke out through the vents. They also burn waste into open dumps which is terrible for the environment. When pollution comes out of the factories it can have various impacts both inside and out! So I know you’re wondering why factories are even here if it hurts people and the environment. Well factories exist because they produce goods and transform materials that are either broken or raw into finished products. Factories also play a role in driving economic growth and creating jobs. But even though factories produce goods and other stuff they also put pollution in the environment. Meanwhile inside the factories they are making goods but gas comes out of factories which causes pollution.
There are 3 types of pollution.
Now I will talk about different types of pollution. First water pollution. Water pollution occurs when chemicals or microorganisms contaminate a body of water making it no longer safe to humans or the environment and since you need water to drink you could get sick and then eventually die. Another type of pollution is air pollution which I might’ve shared a bit about it with you already. Air pollution can be caused by a variety of sources, natural and human made. Volcanoes and wildfires are natural but it can cause air pollution. Vehicle emissions, fuel oils and natural gas are human made and it also causes air pollution. Vehicle emissions, vehicle emissions are released into the air when a vehicles engine burns fuel. Fuel oils, Fuel oils are normally used for generating heat or power. Natural gas, Natural gas is a fossil fuel that causes warming and is harmful to human health. Now for the last type of pollution, land pollution. Land pollution is caused by littering and waste washed ashore from boats, oil rigs and sewage treatment plants. Oil rigs, oil rigs are a structure for drilling and servicing an oil well. Sewage treatment plants are facilities that treat wastewater from homes, buildings, and industries to remove pollutants before it is able to go into the environment.
Conclusion
Well that’s a rap. We’ve covered many things today and I feel pretty good about it. I personally didn’t know about a lot of stuff until I did research and I had a fun time researching and sharing my speech. I hope you all liked it, I also hope you all help the environment to stop any more pollution because pollution needs to be stopped right now. Like I mean right now. Anyway, signing out.
And here is a picture of me presenting my speech

And that is my reflection.
